Frequently Asked Questions
What is FLOW?
FLOW (Freedom to Learn Our Way) is a community platform that connects children, young people and families with local activities, experiences and opportunities.
Our aim is to help children build confidence, friendships, skills and a sense of belonging through accessible community activities.
Who is FLOW for?
FLOW is open to any child or young person who is not currently attending full-time mainstream school, including those who are:
- Experiencing EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
- Neurodivergent
- Have additional needs or disabilities
- Home educated
- Accessing alternative provision
- Following a different educational pathway
We welcome all families and recognise that every child's journey is unique.
How does FLOW work?
Families can create a free account, browse available activities and book sessions directly through the FLOW platform.
FLOW works with independent activity providers to bring together opportunities in one easy-to-access place.
Is it free to join FLOW?
Yes. Creating a FLOW family account is completely free.
You only pay for activities you choose to book.
How much do activities cost?
Activity costs vary depending on the provider, venue and type of activity.
FLOW actively seeks funding, sponsorship and donations to help subsidise activity costs wherever possible and make activities more affordable for families.
Any available discounts or subsidies will be reflected in the booking price.
What is the FLOW administration fee?
A small administration fee may be added to some bookings.
This helps cover the costs of running and developing the FLOW platform, including bookings, payments, customer support, provider onboarding and securing funding opportunities.
We are committed to keeping this fee as low as possible.
Does FLOW run the activities?
No.
FLOW acts as a platform connecting families with independent activity providers.
Activities are delivered and managed by the individual provider or venue.
Who is responsible for safeguarding and health & safety?
Each activity provider is responsible for:
- Safeguarding
- Health and safety
- Risk assessments
- Insurance
- Staff qualifications
- Supervision of activities
FLOW expects all providers to operate safely and responsibly and reserves the right to remove providers where concerns arise.
Can I stay with my child during activities?
This varies between providers and activities.
Details will be included within individual activity listings, or you can contact the provider directly before booking.
What if my child has additional needs?
We encourage families to share relevant information when booking so providers can understand and support their child's needs where possible.
Many FLOW activities will be particularly welcoming of neurodivergent children and those who may benefit from a more flexible and understanding environment.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Cancellation and refund policies may vary between activities and providers.
The applicable policy will be shown at the time of booking.
Can providers offer funded or sponsored places?
Yes.
One of FLOW's goals is to work with businesses, sponsors and funders to create subsidised and fully funded opportunities for families wherever possible.
